Holiday Centerpieces - Fresh Or Faux?
When you decorate for the holidays, you want to have everything picture perfect, from the Christmas tree to the garland decorating the mantle, you want your guests to feel as though they have walked into a winter wonderland when they step foot across the threshold into your home. If you are hosting a holiday gathering where your guests will be served at intimate dinner around your dining room table, you should adorn the middle of your table with a lovely holiday centerpiece. The kind of arrangement or decoration that you choose is entirely up to you and is a source of much debate amongst budget conscious people. The question of fresh or faux is a topic that is often discussed.
Having a fresh floral arrangement adorning the middle of your table is a lovely thing. There are definite pros and cons to this. Some of the positive attributes of a fresh centerpiece is the beautiful fragrance that it exudes. You can use beautiful deep red roses along with sprigs of holly leaves and percunicum berries. These types of arrangements can be ordered online, over the phone or in a florist shop and can be delivered the day of your party to insure absolute freshness. A negative attribute is that fresh arrangements do not last for very long and is most often thrown away within a few days. Using a faux arrangement, if you spend a decent amount of money, can be hard to tell whether or not the centerpiece is real or fake! You do not have to use anything flowery at all. Try using a cute holiday cookie jar or a candle arrangement down the center of the table if you would rather and sprinkle the base of the candles with pinecones, cranberries and fragrant cinnamon sticks for a fun twist.
Holiday centerpieces are the focal part of any dining room table. A good rule to follow when ordering or making an arrangement is to make sure that the design is not too big or too tall which will obscure your guests and will prohibit them from being able to carry on a conversation with one another, which would make your holiday party a bust.
