Holiday Party Decorations - Keep It Simple And Spirited

There is no better time to have a party than during the holiday season.  Although Christmastime is an extremely busy time of the year, it is also the perfect time to get together with family and friends whom you haven’t seen in a while.  Start planning early so you will not have to do things last minute.  Planning early will allow you to relax and enjoy your party instead of running around like crazy and the party is over before you know it.  One of the main focal points of your event should be the holiday party decorations. Try to stick with a theme and keep the decorations tasteful and festive without going completely over the top.

Try decorating with a particular theme in mind when you are throwing a holiday party.  Perhaps you could focus around candy canes or snowmen as you basic decorative choice.  If you are having a buffet-type of party where there is one stationary place where people will dish up their food, try to make your table decorations simple as not to distract from the delicious foods being served.  Start your table decorations off with a festive tablecloth.  This will give your table a nice, finished look.  Creating dimension to your food table adds pizzazz and creativity.  Instead of having all of the food laid flat on your table, try placing boxes underneath the tablecloth and putting your platters on top of the boxes.  This will give your table dimension and character.

Besides the table, the holiday party decorations in the rest of your home should portray and exuberance of the holiday festivities.  Adding special touches to every room in your home where guests will most likely mingle will give them a sense of holiday cheer wherever they go.  In the guest bathroom, add holiday hand towels, festive soaps and a holiday-themed candle.  If your guests are most apt to spend time in two main rooms (such as a living room and a family room), why not have two Christmas trees?  That way, the spirit of the holiday will be apparent in every room in your home and your guests will feel that you went the extra mile to make them feel welcomed.  As an added bonus, as your guests are leaving, give them a small gift bag full of holiday potpourri, a tree ornament and some holiday candy as a token of appreciation for attending your gathering.  Sometimes, it is the little details that really make a party extra special.
